The Curse of the Matterhorn

14 July 1865: seven men conquer the most famous mountain in the world – seven men, only three of whom return alive: the Englishman Edward Whymper, and his two Zermatt guides. A court inquiry will exonerate these three men, but the legends scoff at these judges and their laws. Insidious, the legends have persisted for over 150 years to make these men suspects, indeed criminals.

Yet, proof exists, which would silence once and for all these unfounded rumors, now spread throughout the entire world.

An athletic inquiry through Zermatt, during which speed, endurance and team work will be indispensable to try to disprove Switzerland’s most famous “fake news”.

It is both an athletic and a historical challenge at the foot of the most famous mountain in the world, in search of authentic documents and information, which will enable you perhaps to finally shed full light on an event whose mystery continues to today.

Will you rise to the challenge?
